The MTV VMAs are the latest awards ceremony to take place virtually this year, but that didn’t stop the night from being truly epic. Lady Gaga was the biggest winner, with a total of five awards, but she was closely followed by Ariana Grande, BTS, and The Weeknd.
Lady Gaga was honored with the Tricon Award, and she also picked up four more trophies in competitive categories—Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Best Cinematography. She shared the last three awards with her “Rain On Me” collaborator Ariana Grande.
The Weeknd won Video of the Year and Best R&B awards with “Blinding Lights”. K-pop band BTS dominated several categories with their song “On”, including Best Group, Best Pop, Best K-Pop, and Best Choreography.
MTV Video Music Awards were aired virtually on August 30th from several locations in New York, with Keke Palmer serving as a host.
