After a lot of anticipation, Lana Del Rey’s latest studio album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd hit the shelves last week, but it was worth waiting for. She hit no. 1 in the UK with her latest LP, equaling a major record along the way.

Ocean Blvd debuted at no. 1 in the UK with 41,925 sales, including 9,717 CDs, 20,809 vinyl albums, 2,582 cassettes, and 998 digital downloads, as well as 7,819 units from sales-equivalent streams.

These numbers are quite impressive, and make it the fastest-selling album of 2023 so far in the UK. It became Del Rey’s sixth no. 1 album in this country, joining Arctic Monkeys, Blur, and Radiohead as the latest act with six chart-topping albums to their name.

She also joins Madonna, Taylor Swift, Kylie Minogue, and Barbra Streisand as the female solo artist with the fifth-most chart-topping albums in the UK. Madonna is leading the way with 12, while the rest of the competition is still in the single-digit territory.

Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd was released on March 24 to positive reviews, and it was preceded by three singles, including the title song, “A&W”, and “The Grants”.
