Lana Del Rey is getting ready to drop her ninth studio album next month and she prepared a special Valentine’s Day surprise for her fans. The Grammy-nominated singer marked this holiday by dropping her latest single “A&W”.

“A&W” is the abbreviation of “American w—e” and it’s a seven-minute-long emotional roller-coaster, composed of two halves. The song features an interpolation of the 1959 song “Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko-Bop” by Little Anthony and the Imperials and it’s been described as a folk, trap, and pop ballad.

When writing this song, Del Rey joined forces with her frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, who described it as his favorite song that they wrote together. His band Bleachers will also be featured on the song “Margaret”, inspired by Antonoff’s fiancé Margaret Qualley.

Del Rey’s upcoming ninth studio album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd will also feature collaborations with many other artists, including Jon Batiste, Father John Misty, Tommy Genesis, and SYML.

“A&W” serves as the second single from Ocean Blvd, which is set to be released on March 24. It serves as the follow-up to Del Rey’s acclaimed album Blue Banisters, which debuted in the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart and produced singles “Arcadia” and “Blue Banisters”.
