We’re finally getting more news about Reese Witherspoon’s Legally Blonde 3.

Back in 2018, Witherspoon committed to returning to play Elle Woods, the sorority girl turned lawyer and to produce the film through her Hello Sunshine production company along with producer Marc Platt. In recent news, Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor have signed on to write the script for the film.

Legally Blonde was a huge success for MGM in 2001, grossing $141.8 million worldwide. The films followed Elle, a sorority girl, who’s trying to win back her ex-boyfriend by getting into law school at Harvard University all while remaining perky and dressed in pink. The film also starred Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, and Jennifer Coolidge.

The follow-up film, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, which was set in Washington D.C in 2013, grossed $124.9 million at box offices worldwide.

Legally Blonde 3 will be the second film Kaling and Goor will partner on following Kaling and Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming wedding comedy.
