Leonardo DiCaprio is set to reunite with Quentin Tarantino after the pair has collaborated on 2012’s Django Unchained. According to Deadline, DiCaprio accepted the role in the new movie which is set in 1969 in Los Angeles during the summer of the Charles Manson murders. Although the story of Tarantino’s ninth movie is kept under wraps and described as Pulp Fiction-esque, it is revealed that DiCaprio will play a role of an aging actor. The movie is expected to hit the theaters on August 9, 2019.

The production of the untitled film will begin this year with Tarantino, David Heyman, Shannon McIntosh, and Georgia Kacandes serving as producers. It was previously announced that Sony won the worldwide rights to the movie.

The latest reports are saying that Tarantino has set his eyes on Margot Robbie to play the role of Sharon Tate while Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt have been also mentioned as possible members of the cast.

Not counting his appearance in the documentary Before the Flood, this will be Leonardo DiCaprio’s first role since he portrayed Hugh Glass in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant, for which the 43-year-old actor won his first Academy Award. DiCaprio is attached to star in few more future projects including Martin Scorsese’s biopic of former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s biography of Leonardo da Vinci.

Quentin Tarantino, on the other hand, has previously stated that he wishes to retire after directing 10 movies. His tenth project might be Star Trek film, which is already put in fast development by Paramount. The film would see Quentin Tarantino taking the role of a director while J. J. Abrams will produce and Mark L. Smith will write the screenplay. There have been also rumors that Tarantino wishes to adapt Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, Less Than Zero.
