Lewis Capaldi did a great job promoting his new album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, and its sales numbers went through the roof. Capaldi’s latest LP easily debuted at No. 1 in the UK to become the fastest-selling album of the year in this country.

With 95,000 chart units during its first week on the chart, Broken by Desire outsold the rest of the top ten combined. It also became the fastest-selling album of 2023 so far in the UK, breaking the record previously set by Ed Sheeran’s Subtract with 76,000 units sold during its first week.

Capaldi celebrated the happy news by sharing a tearful photo holding his chart trophy and thanked his fans for helping him reach this amazing milestone.

“Thank you all so very very much, I’ve got no words at all right now not in a million years did I ever think this possible. If you’ve listened to it, streamed it, downloaded it, bought a cd or vinyl please let me know below want to try and thank as many of ya as possible,” he wrote on Instagram.

Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly was released on May 19, and Capaldi promoted its release with singles “Forget Me”, “Pointless”, and “Wish You the Best”, and the Netflix documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now.
