Social media can take a toll on celebrities, and some of them enjoy stepping away from it to focus on their creative endeavors. Lewis Capaldi is the latest star to do so, and he’ll use his brief social media hiatus to focus on writing his sophomore album.

The Scottish singer announced his departure in a cheeky social media post and said he’ll return later this year when he has some new music to share with the world.

“Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and  New Year and I’ll see you, big lovely bastards, later in the year with some new music that imagine will be universally panned by critics and will fail to be as commercially successful as my last outing,” wrote Capaldi on Twitter.

The singer’s debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent came out in 2019 and became certified gold in the UK only a week after its release. The lead single “Someone You Loved” hit no. 1 in both the UK and the U.S., and received a Grammy nomination for song of the year.
