Nicolas Cage and John Travolta in "Face/Off"

90s moviegoers will remember Face/Off, a john Woo movie which was wonderfully over the top even by the era’s standards. Now, Paramount is planning to bring it back to life with a reboot.

According to the reports, the reboot will be produced by Fast & Furious‘ Neal Moritz and David Permut will be an executive producer. The script will be written by Oren Uziel under who’s belt we can find movies like 22 Jump Street, The Cloverfield Paradox and the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog. He will also write the sequel to Detective Pikachu.

Face/Off sees John Travolta and Nicolas Cage at the height of their popularity as action movie stars. The duo faces each other as FBI agent Sean Archer and a terrorist Castor Troy, who by some convoluted circumstances exchange their appearances when Archer tries to find out where Troy has hidden a bomb.

The movie was a success when it was released and it went on to gross $245 million on an $80 million dollars’ budget. It is now considered by action fans to be one of the classics of the genre.
