Lily Allen and Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner would be an exciting combo if they would join forces. It turns out that this almost happened at one point. Lily Allen recently talked with NME and said that she and Turner meant to form a band together.

“We were meant to do a band together once, called Rupert The Band, me and Alex Turner,” – Allen told NME. “I haven’t seen him for a long time. He lives in LA now. Avoiding tax. Yeah.”

“Smile” singer also discussed the new Arctic Monkeys’ record, Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, revealing that she likes the album despite the generally mixed response to it.

“I like that new record,” she said. “It’s like cliché rock’n’roll, but I like it. You know what I mean? I knew it wasn’t going to be Sheffield rock again, but it’s like everything that I expected from a bunch of lads living in Hollywood, from Sheffield, to come up with and I like it for that”

Lily Allen recently released her own new record, No Shame, as well. The album, which is Allen’s fourth studio album, was warmly received by both the music fans and the critics. She also announced a North America tour in support of the album, which will see her playing more than 20 dates in the United States and Canada in October and November.
