Lizzo’s “About Damn Time” is one of the strongest candidates for the song of the summer, and it’s finally getting credit where credit is due. Over three months after its release, this catchy track became her second single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“About Damn Time” completed its 14-week ascent to the summit this week, with 88.2 million radio airplay audience impressions, 14.3 million streams, and 14,000 downloads sold. It’s a huge accomplishment for the song that initially debuted at No. 50 following its release on April 14.

Lizzo described “About Damn Time” as a song that “[allows] us to take a moment and celebrate our survival, and celebrate how far we’ve come” in the face of major traumas we’ve faced in the last few years. It replaces Harry Styles’ “As It Was” at No. 1 and it’s Lizzo’s second chart-topping single in the U.S. after “Truth Hurts”.

The triumph of this song was aided by a recent release of its parent album Special, which hit the shelves on July 15. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 69,000 equivalent album units, losing the top spot to Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti.
