Lizzo is currently busy plotting her fourth studio album Special, but that’s not the only exciting project she’s working on right now. The Grammy-winning singer will soon take center stage in the upcoming HBO Max documentary chronicling her rise to stardom.

This project has been in development for quite some time, but it’s finally taking shape after Doug Pray, the executive producer of HBO’s The Defiant Ones, came on board as a director. In addition to collaborating with HBO, Lizzo also has a working relationship with Amazon, where her reality competition show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls premiered last year.

Lizzo’s documentary will chronicle all the ups and downs she went through over the course of the past ten years, and she hopes her story will inspire other young creatives to keep going.

“I’m so excited I get to share and relive my journey with my fans and HBO Max. From Cuz I Love You to my dramatic world tour, losing and gaining love, and creating my new album Special, y’all get to see the amount of time, patience, blood, sweat, and tears that went into this process,” said Lizzo in a statement.

This document is just a side gig for Lizzo since she’s currently focused on her upcoming album Special, set to be released on July 15. It was preceded by the lead single “About Damn Time” which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
