It’s been four years since Lorde took a break from sharing new music with the world, but she’s finally ready for a comeback. The music video for her summer anthem “Solar Power” is here and it shows the young singer in a way we’ve never seen before.
Lorde’s music has usually been pretty mellow and melancholic, but she tries something different with “Solar Power”. This song is all about summer’s simple pleasures, and the singer said she wanted it to “sound like the sun”, just like the rest of the tracks on her upcoming album of the same name.
Lorde’s music video for “Solar Power” drew comparisons to the horror movie Midsommar, due to its cult-like vibe. While discussing her new music with Triple J, the singer explained this is just the first in a series of music videos set in the same universe.
“We made a whole bunch of videos for this album. We built literally basically a universe on a secret beach. The first video is me introducing you to the world of the album and the videos, I play a kooky tour guide almost,” said Lorde.
“Solar Power” serves as the lead single from her third album of the same name, set to come out later this year.
