Louis Tomlinson’s new album is only a week away, and he teased its release by dropping a music video for the title track “Walls”. The former One Direction singer drew inspiration for this song from several personal experiences, including the band’s split and the fallout of his relationship.
Tomlinson described the process of recording this song as “a proper tear-jerking moment,” saying he was in the studio surrounded by 25 musicians, who were all there to help him bring one of his most personal songs to life.
“It’s about coming home having been on tour, soon after the band had split. I found some of my girlfriend’s clothes in the cupboard and it hit me what I’d done. I love the indie sound of the song and its circular nature – it opens and closes with the same lyric,” the singer said in a press release.
“Walls” will be featured on his upcoming album of the same name, set to be released on January 31st. This record already spawned several singles, including “Two of Us” and “We Made It”, and he’ll promote it with a world tour that’s set to kick off this March.
