Actor Luke Wilson is being hailed as a hero after he helped rescue a woman during a deadly Los Angeles car crash that also involved golfer Bill Haas on Tuesday night.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor, known for Idiocracy, Old School, and Legally Blonde, was involved in a three vehicle collision. According to witnesses, a driver of a Ferrari lost control and hit a woman driving a BMW and Wilson’s car.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 46 year old Sean Heirigs explained that he noticed that the woman in the BMW was “crying, she’s screaming, she doesn’t really know what happened and she was dangling into the passenger side,” because her lug was stuck in the car.

He adds that he and Wilson were able to free the woman from the smoking car and “this was all going on while the Ferrari’s wheels are still spinning and blowing rubber and smoke everywhere, and it’s loud, and you’re smelling lots of smoke and there’s glass.”

Police later identified that the dead driver of the Ferrari was Mark William Gibello of Pacific Palisades. Bill Haas, PGA golfer, was in the passenger’s seat of the Ferrari at the time of this automotive accident. Although there were no serious injuries, according to Allen Hobbs, Haas’ manager, Haas withdrew his spot from the Genesis Open.

Police are still investigating if speed was a factor in this automotive incident.
