M3GAN made quite a splash since hitting the theatres earlier this month and there’s more where that came from! The sequel M3GAN 2.0. has officially been greenlit by Universal Pictures and our favorite A.I. doll will dance her way into the theatres in 2025.

M3GAN premiered on January 6 to positive reviews and grossed over $100 million worldwide against a budget of $12 million after less than two weeks in the theatres. It centers on a lifelike artificial intelligence doll, who develops self-awareness and goes above and beyond to protect her human companion.

Even before the sequel was announced, the film’s producer James Wan said they know where M3GAN’s story could potently go in the future. The film’s director Gerard Johnstone also expressed interest to come back for another film.

“There are so many ideas that we had and facets of M3GAN’s personality that we wanted to explore. I totally think there’s there’s more to say. And I know that M3GAN would have more to say. I would love to do another one,” Johnstone told Variety.

M3GAN 2.0. will premiere on January 17, 2025, with Akela Cooper returning as the film’s screenwriter. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will reprise their roles from the first film.
