Macklemore kept a low profile after his album Gemini came out in 2017, but the “Thrift Shop” singer is finally back in the spotlight and he gave us another amazing music video – just in time for Christmas.
The playful video for his latest single “It’s Christmas Time” sees the famous rapper joining forces with soul singer Dan Caple. It’s filled with holiday spirit in every frame, and it sees a group of kids enjoying essential Christmas activities, including snow fights and ice skating.
Macklemore makes a couple of brief appearances in this music video, which was actually inspired by one of his favorite holiday movies. “At some point every holiday season, while watching Home Alone and drinking hot chocolate, the same idea hits me. ‘You are the second grown rap version of Kevin McCallister. Now act like it and make a Christmas song.’ So I did,” the description of the video reads.
It’s unclear if this holiday tune will simply serve as a non-album single, or if it will be featured on his next album. He didn’t make any announcements regarding his next record, but gave us several new songs this year, including “I Don’t Belong in This Club” and “Summer Days”.
