The popstar is celebrating a milestone year by turning the big 6-0 in August and has given herself a birthday gift by giving back.

12 years ago, Madonna established a non-profit organization to aid orphans in Malawi, entitled Raising Malawi. The African country has a special place in her heart, with the singer having adopted 4 children from there — David, Mercy, and twins Esther and Stella.

In honor of her 6th decade, Madonna has launched an online fundraiser in collaboration with Facebook to raise $60,000 by the 31st of August for Raising Malawi.

“I have an unwavering commitment to providing vulnerable children with a loving home. For my birthday, I can think of no better gift than connecting my global family with this beautiful country and the children who need our help most,” the 4 Minutes singer said.

“Every dollar raised will go directly to meals, schools, uniforms and health care. I want to come together with my friends, fans and supporters to change the lives of Malawian children and let them know they are nurtured, protected and loved,” she continued.

Sounds like the gift that keeps on giving.
