Having your song added to the National Recording Registry means you officially wrote your name in the history books, and some of the world’s most iconic artists just made it happen. The list of 2023 inductees is in, and it includes music from Madonna, Mariah Carey, John Lennon, and many more.

Madonna’s addition to the Registry this year is among the most significant since she made the cut with her breakthrough album Like A Virgin from 1984. The list of albums inducted this year also includes Queen Latifah’s debut effort All Hail the Queen and The Police’s final studio album Synchronicity.

When it comes to individual songs, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, John Lennon’s “Imagine”, Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven”, John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, and Daddy Yankee’s “Gasolina” all made the cut.

Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden revealed they’ve received over 1,100 public nominations for recordings to add to the registry this year, but they eventually settled on 25, based on their cultural, historical, and aesthetic importance.

“The national library is proud to help ensure these recordings are preserved for generations to come, and we welcome the public’s input on what songs, speeches, podcasts or recorded sounds we should preserve next,” said Hayden in a statement.
