Baz Luhrmann’s forthcoming Elvis Presley biopic has cast another big name.
Multiple outlets confirm Maggie Gyllenhaal has been cast in the Oscar-nominated filmmaker’s film about the king of rock ‘n’ roll. Gyllenhaal is set to play Gladys Presley, the mother of Elvis Presley.
The drama is described as a story that will “delve into their complex dynamic spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and the loss of innocence in America.”
Gyllenhaal joins previously announced Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, and Olivia DeJonge.
Luhrmann will direct from a script he wrote with Craig Pearce.
