Malin Akerman has several exciting projects lined up in the future, but she’s constantly on the lookout for new ones. She just landed the lead role in the upcoming indie action-comedy Chick Fight, which she’ll also produce.

This intriguing movie tells the story of a woman who decides to join an all-women underground fight club during one of the lowest points of her life. This decision allows her to slowly rediscover herself, her inner strength and true purpose.

Malin Akerman was immediately drawn to this movie and decided to sign up after a single read. “When I read this script, I immediately knew I had found my next project. It’s outrageously funny, but it also finds a fun and unique way to look at female empowerment that I think will really resonate with audiences,” said the 41-year-old actress.

In addition to starring on the Showtime’s drama series Billions, Akerman is set to appear in the upcoming movies A Piece of My Heart and Friendsgiving. She’s also attached to Netflix original The Sleepover.
