Maluma is no stranger to action-packed videos with amazing plot twists, and that’s exactly what he gave us with the epic new video for his latest single, “Hawái”.

The music video was directed by Jessy Terrero of Cinema Giants and is based on a storyline that Maluma himself came up with. The lyrics explore the fallout of a toxic relationship and difficulty moving on from your past in the Instagram era.

The video opens with Maluma getting in a huge argument with his girlfriend and breaking up, only to watch her fall in love with someone else through photos shared on social media. He eventually decides to crash her wedding, but their confrontation doesn’t exactly lead to a satisfying conclusion.

The “Hawái” visual seems like a perfect interlude for Maluma’s acting debut in the upcoming movie Marry Me. This romantic comedy, led by Jennifer Lopez, will center on a pop star who decides to ditch her cheating fiancé moments before their wedding at Madison Square Garden and marry a random guy from the crowd instead.
