The Insidious franchise is constantly expanding, and its next installment will be led by two major Hollywood stars. Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani have closed deals to join Thread: An Insidious Tale, directed by Moon Knight creator Jeremy Slater.

Even though it serves as the sixth installment in the Insidious horror franchise, Thread is an offshoot project. Like the previous films, it will examine everyday people caught up with demonic entities—this time through the story of a husband and wife who use a mysterious spell to travel back in time and prevent the death of their young daughter to dire consequences.

Moore has been looking for new roles since wrapping up This Is Us after six seasons just last year. She’s set to star opposite Edgar Ramirez in the second season of Peacock’s anthology series Dr. Death, in addition to being attached to Hulu’s series Twin Flames.

As for the Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani, we’ve seen him in several high-profile projects in recent years. He led the true crime series Welcome to Chippendales, in addition to starring in Disney+ smash hit Obi-Wan Kenobi just last year. He’ll next be seen in the untiled Ghostbusters: Afterlife this winter, in addition to voicing Universal’s star-studded animated film Migration.
