It’s been a while since Marcus Mumford announced he’s been working on some solo music and he’s finally ready to share it with the world. The lead singer of Mumford & Sons is dropping his first solo record this September and it will feature an impressive list of collaborators.

Mumford’s solo album will be called (self-titled) and it will hit the shelves on September 16. It will feature collaborations with Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo, and Monica Martin, and he teased the release of the deeply personal song called “Cannibal”.

“In January 2021, facing demons I danced with for a long time in isolation, I wrote a song called ‘Cannibal’. I took it to my friend Blake Mills, and we began the process of making the album, dear to my heart, called (self-titled),” wrote Mumford on Instagram.

Despite his decision to work on some solo music, Mumford & Sons are not going their separate ways. During a guest appearance at Carlile’s Los Angeles show in June, Mumford  said that he started working on solo music with “the full blessing and permission of the band that [he’s] still in.” The band released their latest studio album Delta in 2018, and it went on to become their third No. 1 album in the US.
