It will take a while before we see another Coen brothers movie again, but the award-winning duo is doing a great job developing solo projects. Ethan Coen is set to make his first solo directing outing with an untitled drama starring Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan.

Plot and character details are still being kept under wraps, but Coen spent months meeting with talent. He made a shortlist and held chemistry readings in the past few weeks and eventually settled on Qualley and Viswanathan.

Qualley is fresh off her role in the Netflix mini-series Maid, for which she received Golden Globe, Emmy, and SAG Award nominations. We’ll get to see her in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things and Zachary Wigon’s Sanctuary later this year.

Geraldine Viswanathan is a relative newcomer in Hollywood, best known for her roles in Blockers and Bad Education, and she’ll soon star in the psychological thriller Cat Person and star-studded drama The Beanie Bubble.

Ethan Coen co-wrote this mystery project with his wife Tricia Cooke and developed it alongside Working Title and Focus Features. This will mark his first time directing a solo film after giving us such classics as Fargo, The Big Lebowski, and No Country for Old Man with his brother Joel.
