Mariah Carey has been labeled as “the queen of Christmas”, and she’ll be fully embracing that title this year. The Grammy-winning singer is teaming up with Apple TV+ for an exclusive holiday event Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special.
Carey’s Christmas special has been described as an “innovative special” that will mix music, dancing, and animation “driven by a universally heartwarming story that brings the world together”.
Carey feels like the best possible person to host a Christmas special since her song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” tends to make a comeback every holiday season. That’s exactly what happened last year, when this Christmas tune topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time since its release 25 years ago.
Hamish Hamilton and Roman Coppola will be in charge of directing this holiday special, and several surprise guests are expected to make an appearance. This won’t be Carrey’s first Christmas special—she hosted Mariah Carey’s Merriest Christmas on Hallmark Channel back in 2015.
