Killers of the Flower Moon is one of the most anticipated films of the year and we finally know when it will see the light of day. The Cannes Film Festival officials have confirmed the rumors that Martin Scorsese’s next project will premiere at this event.

Scorsese’s return to Cannes is a big deal since it’s been almost four decades since he presented one of his films at this festival. He won best director for After Hours in 1986 and later returned as the president of the jury in 1998, awarding Palme d’Or to Theo Angelopoulos’ Eternity and a Day.

Killers of the Flower Moon is based on David Grann’s best-selling book, and it centers on the string of mysterious murders of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation in 1920s Oklahoma. This film will be led by Scorsese’s frequent collaborators Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, with Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, and Tantoo Cardinal in supporting roles.

It’s still unclear if Flower Moon will play in or out of competition, but we’ll know more once the lineup is officially revealed on April 13. Disney’s Indiana Jones And The Dial of Destiny and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City are also among the hot titles expected to premiere in Cannes between May 16 and 27.
