Marvel’s upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings starring Simu Liu has dropped its first trailer.

Monday morning Liu gave a first look at the upcoming film poster and his superhero costume. Not long after, Marvel Studios released the first trailer.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be the first Marvel film featuring an Asian lead and with an Asian filmmaking team that includes director Destin Daniel Cretton (Just Mercy) and screenwriter David Callaham (Wonder Woman 1984).

Joining Liu are Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Ronny Chieng, Tony Leung, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, and Florian Munteanu.

The film will revisit Mandarin, the Marvel villain who Ben Kingsley played in Iron Man 3. The Mandarin turned out to be an actor and Leung will be playing the villain who has mystical powers from 10 magical rings in the upcoming film.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was originally scheduled to be released in February 2021, but it was delayed due to the pandemic. It’s been pushed back several times, but it’s now received a September 3, 2021 release date.
