Marvel’s “Cloak & Dagger” Premier Date and Trailer Revealed

Freeform (former ABC Family) is following Netflix’ steps and tapping into Marvel’s pool of comic book heroes as inspiration for TV shows. The network has revealed that their Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger TV series is set to premiere on June 7. Based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name, the series will consist of 10 episodes and will be a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can check out the synopsis and the trailer for the series below.

Olivia Holt stars as Tandy Bowen / Dagger, a teenager with the ability to emit light daggers while Aubrey Joseph will portray the part of Tyrone Johnson / Cloak, who has an ability to engulf others in darkness. Besides Holt and Joseph, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger will feature Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, Emma Lahana, Jaime Zevallos, and J.D. Evermore as well.

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con International in 2011, but it wasn’t until 2016 that the show officially began with the production. Heroes writer Joe Pokaski took on the showrunner role and will also serve as the producer of the series alongside Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb.

Cloak & Dagger wasn’t the only Marvel’s story Freeform tried to get on the small screens. The network previously placed a series order for Marvel’s New Warriors in April 2017. After the pilot of New Warriors received great reviews at the test screening, Marvel wanted to premier it in 2018, but the network couldn’t fit it into its schedule. Freeform then agreed to return the New Warriors to Marvel, who started shopping it around and hopes to find a home for the show in 2018.
