Finn Jones in "Iron Fist"

Netflix cancels Marvel’s Iron Fist after two seasons.

The second season of the series created for Netflix by Scott Buck based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name will be its last. The news was announced by the streaming giant despite having significantly improved its rating since the launch of the second season.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix,” said Marvel and Netflix in a joint statement to Deadline today. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners,” Marvel and Netflix added. “We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership, we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

The show followed Danny Rand played by Finn Jones, a martial arts master and NYC billionaire able to call upon a mystical power. Jessica Henwick, Tom Pelphrey, Jessica Stroup, Sacha Dhawan rounded out the cast.

This is the first time a Netflix Marvel series get the ax.
