The fourth installment of the sci-fi franchise officially adds two months to its production schedule.

Variety was first to report that Matrix 4 has signed eight-week extensions to keep the actors on hold until at least July 6, with Warner Bros. looking to return to production in Berlin in early July.

Filming of the Lana Wachowski-directed feature began in February in San Francisco before moving across the pond mid-March. However, cameras never actually started in Europe because production was halted in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The fourth installment reunited franchise stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. It also stars Jada Pinkett Smith as well as newcomers Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Henwick, Ibarra, Neil Patrick Harris, Toby Onwumere, Brian J. Smith,  Eréndira Ibarra, Andrew Caldwell, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
