Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast in the upcoming fourth installment of the Matrix franchise.

Multiple outlets confirm that the actor behind Black Manta in the DC superhero hit is set to star in one of the lead roles in the planned Matrix 4. He will star Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss who will be reprising their roles in the film.

According to Variety, director Lana Wachowski met with several actors for the role over the last week but it was Abdul-Mateen who emerged as the frontrunner.

Warner Bros. announced that a fourth Matrix movie is officially in the works in August, with Wachowski set to direct from a script by Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.
