Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are coming along for the ride.
The filmmakers — who have been best buds since childhood — have announced that all future contracts at their Pearl Street Films production company will include an inclusivity clause.
During her Academy Awards acceptance speech for Best Actress, Frances McDormand, told the audience, “I have two words to leave with you tonight, ladies and gentleman: inclusion rider.”
The term refers to a contract amendment allowing for greater diversity, particularly regarding women, people of color, LGBT representatives, and those with disabilities.
The call by the Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri actress prompted 2015 Best Actress winner, Brie Larson, to declare her commitment to the inclusion rider, and Black Panther actor, Michael B. Jordan, announcing that he will add the policy to all future projects produced by his company, Outlier Society Productions.
Matt and Ben have now decided to follow suit, with the head of Strategic Outreach at their production house confirming future inclusion of the clause.
.@michaelb4jordan Thank you for always supporting broader representation in the industry. On behalf of Pearl Street Films, Matt Damon, @BenAffleck, Jennifer Todd, Drew Vinton & I will be adopting the #InclusionRider for all of our projects moving forward. https://t.co/ODit24D2Rb
