Iconic game show Jeopardy! announced Mike Richards will serve as its new full-time host, stepping in for the late and legendary Alex Trebek. Additionally, The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik will host a Jeopardy! spinoff series that will air in primetime.

Richards previously served as Jeopardy! executive producer while also serving as the show’s guest host in early 2021. His other hosting experiences include works on game shows Divided and The Pyramid and reality series Beauty and the Geek.

Bialik, who also had a guest host stint on Jeopardy! earlier this year, previously hosted hidden camera reality show Candid Camera and reality competition series Celebrity Show-Off.

Richards will have his debut as a full-time host on September 13th, when the 38th season of Jeopardy! is scheduled to premiere.

Alex Trebek hosted Jeopardy! for 36 years, becoming one of the television’s most beloved personalities in the process. He passed away in 2020, after which the game show turned to a roster of guest hosts that included Richards and Bialik as well as a number of high-profile celebrities like star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, actor LeVar Burton, and former Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings.

Burton was a fan favorite to succeed Trebek while Bialik was also in the running before she was given her own show. Jennings was reportedly a strong candidate as well before Richards was selected. He will remain linked to the show regardless, serving as a consulting producer.
