“Savage” marks Megan Thee Stallion’s first-ever No. 1 hit on the Billboard chart and the seventh for remix guest star Beyoncé as a solo artist.

The “Hot Girl Summer” rapper hasn’t released a debut studio album yet, but her recent EP is bringing her a lot of success. Suga was released in March, and debuted at number 10 on the US Billboard 200.

Its third single, “Savage,” dropped on April 7th and became not only her first top 10 entrance to the Billboard chart but also her first ever no. 1 single. The single first went viral on Tik Tok, where it had people performing a signature dance.

Megan Thee Stallion recently shared with Entertainment Tonight how the collaboration with Queen B happened. “After I heard the song, I texted JAY-Z like five times like, ‘Oh my god, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you,’” Megan told ET. Megan revealed that Beyonce texted her the next day and that’s when she realized that she is in a whole different league of company. “Then Beyoncé texted me the next day,” she exclaimed. “I was like ‘Oh my god, Beyoncé got my number.’ She [Beyoncé] texted me two, three times the next day and the day after that. I’m like, ‘Girl, I’m friends with Beyoncé.'”
