After taking a brief break from music to focus on her mental health, Megan Thee Stallion is back and stronger than ever! The Grammy-winning rapper ushered in her next era with a fierce new single “Cobra”, released through her own label Hot Girl Productions.
Stallion did a great job teasing her new single on social media, and it’s not a coincidence she chose to name her new song after one of the most venomous snake species on Earth.
“Cobras exemplify courage and self-reliance. They stand tall and fierce in the face of challenges, teaching one to tap into their inner strength and rely on oneself to conquer their threats. Emulating the cobra helps one be more confident in the person they are within,” she wrote on Instagram.
The Douglas Bernardt-directed visual for Stallion’s latest single kicks off with the rapper crawling out of a snake’s mouth and bravely delivering her verses while a huge snake hisses right in her face. As the video progresses, we watch Stallion peeling the layers of her skin inside a glass box, surrounded by photographers, before performing an elaborate dance routine in the middle of the desert.
“Cobra” marks the rapper’s first solo single of 2023, and it’s expected to be featured on her third studio album, released through her newly-founded label Hot Girl Productions.
