Godfather of Harlem is one of the shows that helped put the streaming service MGM+ on the map, and its future is looking bright. The crime drama led by Forest Whitaker is officially returning for its fourth season.

Godfather of Harlem centers on infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson, and it shows him trying to regain control of the neighborhood he once ruled after spending a decade in prison.

The show’s fourth season will see him continue his bloody war for control of Harlem against other mafia families, especially after the newly-arrived gangster Frank Lucas emerges as his strongest potential rival.

Season 4 will kick off production in New York next year, and Whitaker is excited to go back to work.

“I’m so excited to be returning to set alongside such an incredible cast, crew, and creative team, under the powerful leadership of Chris Brancato. We’re so appreciative of Michael Wright’s support at MGM+, and thrilled that Godfather of Harlem has resonated with fans around the world,” he said in a statement.

In addition to Whitaker, Ilfenesh Hadera, Lucy Fry, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Erik LaRay Harvey, and Giancarlo Esposito are also expected to reprise their roles when Godfather of Harlem returns for Season 4.
