Michael Cera has been cast as the lead opposite Amy Schumer in the upcoming Hulu comedy series Life & Beth.

The series, formerly known as Love, Beth received a 10-episode order in July 2019 as part of a first-look deal Schumer made with Hulu. Life & Beth will see Schumer serving as writer, director, executive producer, and staring.

The show centers around Beth (Schumer), whose life looks impressive on paper: she’s a wine distributor, in a relationship with a successful, good-looking guy, and she lives in Manhattan. But after she has to engage with her past, her life changes, and through flashbacks to her teen self, she learns how she became successful and decides who she wants to be.

Cera will play John, a farmer and chef who is always honest. This will be the actor’s first series regular role since Arrested Development. Since then he’s worked primarily in films including Superbad, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Juno, Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Youth in Revolt, Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus, and many others.

Executive producing with Schumer are Kevin Kane, Daniel Powell, and Ryan McFaul
