It’s been almost a decade since Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson starred in Frank by each other’s side, and they’re gearing up for another collaboration. They’ll join forces in the big-screen adaptation of the hit book Night Boat to Tangier alongside Ruth Negga.

Night Boat to Tangier is based on Kevin Barry’s book of the same name, and it centers on a duo of Irish gangsters Maurice and Charlie, and the long history of violence that tied them together for over two decades and took them everywhere from Spain to Morocco.

James Marsh will be in charge of directing the feature, based on Kevin Barry’s own script, and he’s looking forward to telling this surprising and very moving story.

“Kevin’s script is a beautiful piece of writing… The story is built around love and tenderness amidst all the macho posturing and violence and the female characters are as strong and powerful as the men. It’s an incredibly exciting prospect,” said Marsh in a statement.

This will mark the second collaboration between Fassbender and Gleeson, two of Ireland’s biggest stars of their generation, who previously co-starred in Lenny Abrahamson’s black comedy Frank. Night Boat to Tangier will also star the Oscar nominee Ruth Negga, while the rest of the cast is yet to be announced.
