Thrilling films about criminal masterminds are somewhat of David Fincher’s specialty, and he has another one on the way! The first trailer for The Killer is here and stars the Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender as a professional assassin caught up in a manhunt after a hit gone wrong.

Based on the French graphic novel series written by Alexis “Matz” Nolent and illustrated by Luc Jacamon, The Killer was written for the big screen by Andrew Kevin Walker. He previously wrote the script for Fincher’s seminal serial killer movie Se7en, and they most recently collaborated on the animated series Love, Death & Robots.

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, The Killer takes place in the aftermath of a fateful near-miss, and it centers on an assassin battling his employers and himself on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.

In addition to Fassbender in the titular role, this psychological thriller also stars Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Kerry O’Malley, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton.

The Killer will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on September 3, where it’s competing for the prestigious Gold Lion trophy. It will be released in selected theatres on October 27, before heading to Netflix on November 10.
