The musical based on Michael Jackson’s life and music is coming to Broadway in 2020. This yet-untitled project will be a joint effort presented by the late singer’s estate and Columbia Live Stage. The score for the musical will contain hits from Jackson’s extensive catalog and should include some of the pop star’s biggest hits like Billy Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Man in the Mirror and The Way You Make Me Feel.

Playwright Lynn Nottage, the only woman to win Pulitzer Prize for Drama twice, will serve as a writer for the show. Christopher Wheeldon, winner of 2015 Tony Award for Best Choreography, will direct and choreograph the musical.

This musical is just one of several projects Michael Jackson’s estate undertaken in the past couple years including two Cirque du Soleil shows; tour show Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour in 2011 and residency show at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas titled Michael Jackson: One in 2013. Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour started its run in Montreal in 2011 and finished in 2014, after 501 shows in 141 cities. It was highest grossing tribute show in history and Cirque du Soleil’s most commercially successful project.

Other projects included acclaimed documentary from 2010, This Is It, and two posthumous albums, 2010’s Michael and 2014’s Xscape.
