Netflix is currently expanding The Witcher universe with several spin-offs, including Blood Origin. Its cast recently became richer with one shining star—the BAFTA-nominated star of Crazy Rich Asians, Michelle Yeoh.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is set 1,200 years before the events of the original series, and it tells the story of the creation of the first prototype Witcher. In addition to Yeoh, the series will also star Laurence O’Fuarain and Jon Prophet. Jodie Turner-Smith was previously attached to star before dropping out due to scheduling conflicts.

According to the official logline, Yeoh will take on the role of Scian, the very last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves, who launches herself into a deadly quest to retrieve a stolen sacred sword that has been taken from her fallen tribe by nefarious means.

The Witcher: Blood Origin isn’t the only exciting project that Yeoh currently has on the way. We’ll soon get to see her in Gunpowder Milkshake and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and she’s also been attached to Avatar 2 and its upcoming sequels.
