If we had to pick the most talked-about film of 2022 so far, Top Gun: Maverick would make the cut—and it seems that the follow-up might be on the way. Miles Teller recently revealed that he had “some conversations” with Tom Cruise about a potential sequel.

Teller played Rooster, son of Maverick’s late best friend Goose, who happens to be one of the members of a training group coached by Maverick. After many wild twists and turns, they both made it out alive at the end of the movie and could come back if the sequel ever happened.

According to Teller, the follow-up to Top Gun: Maverick might be in the cards, but nothing is official just yet. The 35-year-old actor told Entertainment Tonight that it would be great to come back, but we’ll see what the future holds and it’s all up to Tom Cruise.

In addition to Cruise and Teller, Top Gun: Maverick also starred Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer, reprising his role from the original film. Since its release on May 27, the film grossed over $1.184 billion worldwide, becoming not only the highest-grossing film of 2022 but also the highest-grossing film of Cruise’s career.
