Miley Cyrus gave us one of the defining songs of 2023 with “Flowers”, but we’ve never got to hear it live—until now! The Grammy-nominated singer delivered the first-ever live performance of her chart-topping smash hit at the private event at the Chateau Marmont.

“Flowers” hit the shelves on January 12, and went on to spend eight non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 after becoming Cyrus’ second No. 1 hit in the US. The live rendition of “Flowers” was included in the concert special Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions), but Cyrus never sang it live until her Chateau Marmont performance.

Cyrus’ reluctance to perform her music live doesn’t come as a surprise to her fans after she told Vogue she doesn’t intend to go back to touring anytime soon. Cyrus told the magazine there’s no connection or safety in performing in front of 100,000 all on her own, and later clarified her statement on social media.

“Even if I don’t see them face to face every night at a concert, my fans are felt deeply in my heart. This has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation for the fans & everything to do with I simply don’t want to get ready in a locker room, which is the reality of life on the road,” she explained.
