Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown will star in the science-fiction movie The Electric State for Universal Pictures, which will be directed and produced by Anthony and Joe Russo.

The project is based on Simon Stalenhag’s illustrated novel of the same name that’s set in an alternative future and features a teenage girl (Brown) that realizes that her missing brother has sent her a strange but sweet robot. With the robot, she sets out to find her brother in an imaginative world of humans mixing with robots and she uncovers a conspiracy along the way.

The Russos are best known for directing Marvel blockbusters Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. They’ve been working on this project since 2017. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the writers of Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, wrote the script for The Electric State.

Brown is currently in production on the fourth season of Stranger Things, in which she stars as Eleven. Her other credits include Enola Holmes, Godzilla vs. Kong, Damsel, A Time Lost, and The Girls I’ve Been.
