Video game adaptations are having a moment in Hollywood, and Minecraft is the next one in line! The ensemble cast of this highly-anticipated project will be as amazing as it gets, and Jack Black is the latest star to join the pack.

Jack Black joined Minecraft in the role of Steve, and he’s not the first beloved actor to be cast in this project. Minecraft will be led by Jason Momoa (Aquaman), with Emma Myers (Wednesday), Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple), and Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Just Mercy) joining him in supporting roles.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but adapting this game was a no-brainer for Warner Bros. and their partners Vertigo and Legendary. This Mojang/Microsoft title became the bestselling video game of all time following its release, with 300 million copies sold and nearly 140 million monthly active players around the world.

Black most recently voiced the main villain Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and received his third Golden Globe nod for co-writing the movie’s song “Peaches,” which he also performed. Black will next return as Po in Kung Fu Panda 4, and he’s also attached to the sci-fi action-comedy Borderlands and the Christmas movie Dear Santa.
