Mom will be ending after Season 8. The season finale, which is scheduled for May 6, will now be the series finale. The show was renewed for Seasons 7 and 8 in early 2019. This news comes after Anna Farris, the series co-lead, left the sitcom ahead of Season 8.

“For the past eight years, we’ve had the great honor to bring these wonderful characters to life, sharing their struggles and triumphs with millions of viewers every week,” said executive producers Chuck Lorre, Gemma Baker, and Nick Bakay.

Farris, Allison Janney, Jaime Pressly, Mimi Kennedy, Beth Hall, Kristen Johnston, and William Fichtner originally starred in the show. Recurring and guest stars of the show included Yvette Nicole Brown, Ellen Burstyn, Kristin Chenoweth, Beverly D’Angelo, Patti LuPone, Joe Manganiello, Emily Osment, Kevin Pollack, Richard Schiff, June Squibb, Octavia Spencer, French Stewart, Kathleen Turner, Steven Weber, Bradley Whitford, and Rainn Wilson.

The show centered around Christy (Farris), a newly sober mom who was raising two children who reunite with her estranged mother, Bonnie (Janney).

Janney scored five Emmy nominations, winning five, and a Golden Globe during the duration of the show.
