Morrissey Announces Broadway Residency

Morrissey is making his Broadway debut. 

The Smiths frontman has decided to treat fans to a seven-night Broadway residency. He hits the Lunt-Fontanne Theater stage May 2nd. 

The eponymous residency will precede the release of his upcoming new album, California Son. According to Hyperbeast, the covers album is Morrissey’s take on classics from the likes of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, among others. It includes contributions from Grizzly Bear‘s Ed Droste, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Broken Social Scene’s Ariel Engle. 

The career-spanning shows will treat fans to an up close and personal look at the musical icon’s influence on the industry. Per an official statement, the show will feature an “intimate yet exciting exploration of Morrissey’s expansive career from his early days to his upcoming new record.”

Morrissey takes to the Lunt-Fontanne stage on May 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10 and 11.
