
New Line’s reboot of Mortal Kombat is more than a year away but details about it are already coming in. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has dilled the position of two of the franchise’s big hitters – Sonya Blade and Kano.
According to the reporter, Jessica McNamee is negotiating the role of Sonya Blade and Kano may be portrayed by Australian actor Josh Lawson. Lewis Tan, the British actor who played in Deadpool 2 and Wu assassins also joins the cast but the identity of his character is still unknown. The three join Joe Taslim (The Raid, The Night Comes for Us) who has already signed on to play the character of Sub-Zero.
The film will be directed by Simon McQuaid and his screenwriter, Greg Russo, promises an especially gory, R-Rated film. He even promised to bring the infamous fatalities the video game franchise is known for to the big screen. Russo refused to reveal which fatalities will make their way to the theaters.
Mortal Kombat is due to be released on March 5, 2021, so the fans will have to wait a little longer to find out.
