The Oscar-nominated filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer is plotting his next project, and its cast is shaping up to be amazing. The Emmy-nominated actress Moses Ingram and two-time Oscar nominee Michael Shannon joined Oppenheimer’s upcoming musical The End.

Ingram, who rose to prominence with the role in the Netflix mini-series The Queen’s Gambit and later starred in Obi-Wan Kenobi, will be in pretty good company on the set of this project. The cast will be led by Tilda Swinton and George MacKay, and it will also include Michael Shannon, Bronagh Gallagher, Tim McInnerny, and Lennie James.

The End will tell the story of a wealthy family, who survived the downfall of society in a palatial bunker, despite contributing to it through their involvement in the oil industry. Two decades after the end of the world, they’re haunted by guilt and the memories of the loved ones they lost in the apocalypse.

Oppenheimer’s new film is inspired by the “unearned optimism” of the Golden Age of the Broadway musical, and he can’t wait to get to work with its amazing cast.

“I am thrilled to be making The End in collaboration with this miraculous ensemble of artists. I am in awe of each of them. It has been a journey of six years to reach this point, and I could not be more humbled,” said Oppenheimer in a statement.
