“Motherless Brooklyn” Set to Open 2019 Rome Film Festival

Edward Norton and Gugu Mbatha-Raw in "Motherless Brooklyn"

Rome Film Festival is about a month away, and we finally know which movie will be screened at the opening ceremony. Edward Norton’s latest directorial effort Motherless Brooklyn will have the honor of kicking off this festival.

This crime drama tells the story of a private investigator with Tourette syndrome, who’s trying to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend during the ‘50s. Motherless Brooklyn had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival last month, and its theatrical release is set for November 1st.

Rome Film Fest director Antonio Monda said it’s an honor to open this event with a film of such quality, and praised Norton’s talents behind the camera.

“Motherless Brooklyn is a magnificent noir, in the tradition of the finest classic cinema. Edward Norton displays a firm hand and unblinking eye in directing this eternal story of ambition, corruption, and racism,” said Monda in a press release.

Rome Film Fest will be held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and other venues throughout the Italian capital between October 17th and 27th
